Apprentice Code of Conduct
The following conduct is expected of all Power Pilates Apprentices:
- Be honest and respectful in all professional activities.
- Treat all communication with clients with professional confidentiality.
- Never attempt to diagnose a client's physical or psychological condition, prescribe a treatment, or suggest or approve of going against a physician's advice.
- Follow all local, state, and national laws that pertain to teaching the Pilates method.
- Honor the terms specified in all contracts with Power Pilates.
- You must make arrangements for your children and/or pets to be cared for offsite. Children and pets are not permitted in any Power Pilates studio. If you are attending remotely, children and pets must be in the care of a responsible adult during your training hours.
- Phones, tablets, and computers are strictly forbidden when observing in the studio.
- No food in the studio (bottled water is okay).
- No street shoes in the studio.
- Compile a list of questions during observation to ask your supervising Teacher Trainer at a later time. Do not interrupt a client session with questions or talk/whisper with other apprentices (this makes clients uncomfortable).
- Studios may limit observation hours for occupancy and safety reasons. Clients may also choose to decline observation. Please be respectful of their choice.
- Your Teacher Trainer wants you to succeed. Please be open to their feedback so that you can improve.
The following conduct is unacceptable and will not be tolerated:
- All forms of bias including race, ethnicity, gender, disability, national origin, religion and creed as demonstrated through verbal and/or written communication and/or physical acts.
- All forms of sexual suggestion or harassment with clients, students and other trainers, even when they invite or consent to such behavior. Sexual suggestion is defined as, but not limited to, all forms of overt and covert seductive speech, gestures, and behavior as well as physical contact of a sexual nature; harassment is defined as, but not limited to, repeated comments, gestures, or physical contact of a sexual nature.
- All types of dishonesty, including plagiarism, knowingly furnishing false information, forgery, and alteration or use of official documents with intent to defraud.
- Intentional disruption or obstruction of teaching, administration, or other educational activities.
- Theft or damage to the property or premises of others.
- Teaching while intoxicated, under the influence of a controlled substance, or in any other state that would result in impaired judgment.
Graduate Code of Conduct
Graduates teaching using the Power Pilates method must maintain a professional standard of conduct (1) while teaching in person or online and (2) online for any social media accounts associated with the practice of Power Pilates. Should a graduate engage in hate speech, bullying or cyberbullying, or other defamatory, offensive or derogatory content (1) while teaching in person or online and (2) online for any social accounts associated with the practice of Power Pilates, the graduate's certificate shall be immediately and unconditionally revoked. Power Pilates reserves the sole right to determine what qualifies as a violation of the Code of Conduct. If a graduate's certificate is revoked, the graduate must immediately remove all references to holding a Power Pilates certificate from all public platforms.
