This workshop explores the optimal anatomical placement of the body. We take a closer look at the powerhouse and the shoulder girdle, both in rest and motion. We discuss how this relates to the goals of the Pilates method and also work the "Pre-Pilates" exercises to see how they deepen the principles.

We all love a good Tower class! The extra support, stretch, and strengthening that comes from working on the Cadillac/Wall Unit/Tower is hard to beat, but just because you or your clients don't have access to the equipment doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy or teach many of your favorite Tower exercises. Come join us for some creative Mat choreography based on the classical Tower format using mat exercise variations and props. We'll warm up with a mini Tower on the Mat workout and then take a closer look at class formatting and exercise options. Ideally bring a foam roller, medium weight theraband, 6-8 inch squishy ball or Magic Circle, and light hand weights and get ready to have fun! Joseph Pilates created a beautiful progression on an often-overlooked piece of equipment, the Barrel. Wipe the dust off your Barrel and remember what a great piece of equipment it can be! The Barrel allows access to gradually open two very restricted areas of our body, the hips and shoulders. We will work through this progression from the Small Barrel up to the Ladder Barrel in such a way that it becomes easier to choreograph the Barrels into almost every workout.

Footwork on the Reformer enlightens us on how our client is feeling and helps guide us on where to go with the work as an instructor. In this workshop, the spotlight will be on this extraordinary exercise but we will also touch on Chair work as well. Come join us as we discuss what we see as teachers and what to look for in our clients.

During this workshop we will delve into the primary powerhouse. We will discuss the anatomy and kinesiology of the pelvis and the lower back, common conditions related to these bones and the muscles attached to them and how Pilates can help re-align and therefore rid our students of compensatory issues.

Joseph Pilates didn't just throw a bunch of exercises together in a row. He placed them in specific order. For a reason. This workshop reviews how each exercise builds off the next. The workshop touches on each exercise in the advanced mat looking at the exercises prior that helped get you there, and what it's preparing you for moving forward. We touch on both muscle recruitment and planes of movement.

This workshop will instruct teachers on how to utilize the Foam Roller in a mat class to challenge clients flexibility and stability.

This is a workshop on setting the foundation for creating a safe and effective Pilates workout for the client with a hip or knee joint replacement. This interactive workshop will include demonstration and practice on how to incorporate Pilates mat and equipment exercises into a modified program for clients with a knee and hip syndrome and/or joint replacement pre- and post-operatively. At the end of this workshop you will understand the adaptability of the method and why Pilates is an ideal form of pre and post-rehabilitation and fitness for these populations.

If you are looking to spice up your at home mat work, or if you have students that struggle getting down on the mat, these exercises are a great challenge. Make sure you have a mat and wall space with room to open your arms wide and over your head so you can follow along.

How can we let our clients experience the similar feelings of touch guidance when we are not there with them or able to actually touch them? Learn some amazing verbal cues and techniques for asking your clients to use their own hands as feedback for their practice. This class focuses on mat work but will also discuss some apparatus options as well.

There will be a review of technique and teaching formulas which will provide an excellent workout. Learn new ways of utilizing the Magic Circle while increasing efficient, flowing movement.
