DR. RICK SANFORD Dr. Rick Sanford attended the University of South Carolina on an athletic football scholarship, where he excelled as a defensive back. He was named as a preseason All-American in 1978, and was chosen as a postseason All American following the 1978 season. Dr. Rick Sanford was then chosen by the New England Patriots as the 25th overall selection in the first round of the 1979 NFL draft. He was the first football player chosen in the NFL draft's first round in University of South Carolina football history. He played seven years in the NFL and was named to the 1983 All-Pro team, during which he tied the NFL lead in interceptions with a total of seven. He still holds the record for the longest interception return in Soldier Field (Chicago) history, with a return of 99 yards versus the Chicago Bears in 1982. As a result of his outstanding football career, Dr. Sanford received numerous injuries and is well known in the sports field for his ability to rehabilitate injuries. Dr. Sanford attended Life University School of Chiropractic in Marietta, Georgia. He graduated in 1989 with a Doctor of Chiropractic Degree and has been in private practice since 1990. Dr. Sanford completed the Power Pilates 12-Day Intensive program and is currently completing his Pilates apprentice hours. Dr. Sanford is a member of the South Carolina Chiropractic Association, the N.F.L. Retired Players Association, and the N.F.L. Alumni Association. JAY APKING Jay owns Olympus Pilates in Knoxville, Tennessee and co-owns BodyMind Balance in Cincinnati, Ohio. He has been teaching Pilates since 1997 and has been a Teacher Trainer for Power Pilates since 2007. He has an athletic background having played football, basketball, baseball, golf, swimming and tennis on some competitive level. He is also an active biker and runner, having completed one marathon and is working his way toward black belt in Tae Kwon Do. He has worked with several athletes from different sports including teams from both the University of Tennessee and Xavier University and several notable tri-athletes. He specializes in making the athlete a more efficient worker to help prevent injuries and assist recovery. He also believes Pilates will aid the athlete long after competition by helping to prevent and heal the wear and tear caused by sports. He currently resides in Knoxville with his wife, Leslie and their 18-month old daughter, Anna Finlay. JODY DOMERSTAD Jody Domerstad has over 15 years experience in the fitness industry. As a competitive athlete and body builder, Jody discovered Pilates to compensate for various sports related injuries. Jody received her Power Pilates certificate in 2000. She has worked with trained athletes of all calibers from high school football players to Olympic hopefuls to professional athletes. She’s been a trainer for New York Giant RW McQuarter, New York Yankee Ryan Flannery and UFL Football EJ Barthel in Pilates, among others. Jody has a BS in Physical Education and Health as well as 4 different yoga certifications. |
