Frankie has been in the fitness industry since 1985. After adopting her daughter, she left her career as a software engineer to stay home with her family. Being passionate about exercise led her to become certified through the American Council on Exercise (ACE). She taught group exercise in the Dallas area for 21 years along with presenting at workshops. Frankie taught everything from step to cardio kick box and helped area clubs create energetic fitness classes. Too much of a good thing led to some hip issues, and she discovered Pilates to help balance out her workouts. It was love at first class! The physical benefits were amazing. Although she was very fit, Pilates helped her to become more flexible and most importantly, to move from her core.
Training to become a Pilates instructor became a major goal. She was first trained through Polestar in 2000, but in 2003 discovered Power Pilates and pursued their comprehensive certificate program and helped introduce them to the Dallas community. Although she was sad to leave Texas, moving to Columbus in 2006 has opened up many new opportunities. She has found a home at Body Pure Pilates in Gahanna, Ohio, where she works full-time.
Her passion for classical Pilates is fueling her desire to introduce Power Pilates teacher trainings to the Columbus community. She is also enjoying sharing mat work with high school conditioning classes. After one class, they are wowed into believing that Pilates is not just for girls!! She is fortunate to be able to share this incredible way of exercise with athletics, golfers, moms, teens, seniors, clients with back/neck issues, and anyone else searching for more body awareness, strength and flexibility.

Lisamay's Pilates teaching career started rather untraditionally as her movement background is not in kinesiology, fine arts, or education, but primarily garnered at sea. Yes, at sea! Post college, her gypsy nature led her to many adventures including eight years in Alaska fishing for her own "Deadliest Catch". After working side-by-side with some of the toughest men at sea, Lisamay needed a way to lengthen and strengthen the muscles she'd developed and discovered the perfect solution: Pilates. She and her husband Owen first studied the method under the tutelage of Dorothee' Van de Walle in Seattle, WA, before obtaining full teacher training from Romana Kryzanowska.
They then moved to Orange County, CA, to start a family and open House of Pilates in Irvine. In between pregnancies, Lisamay obtained her Teachers of Teachers certificate through Power Pilates. And after three C-sections, a double mastectomy, and one adoption, she is busy opening a second studio and teaching both clients and new apprentices the Power Pilates way. How does she do it all? She is true to her classical Pilates' roots and quotes the words of her mentor, founder of Power Pilates, Dr. Howard Sichel, "Movement Heals®".

Movement, consistency, motivation, and discipline...all elements of Stormi's approach as a student, instructor, and teacher. In 2006, after leaving her first official mat class, Stormi was immediately intrigued by the Joseph Pilates method and began her career as a Power Pilates Instructor/Teacher Trainer.
Stormi, a native Texan, was driven to dance prior to learning to walk and has never stopped. By age 10, under the mentorship of Joyce Seaborne Bader, Stormi solely focused on classical foundations, progressing with Distinction through the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD). During this time she was granted scholarships to the American Academy of Ballet and captured leading roles with Fort Worth/Dallas Ballet, directed by Paul Mejia.
Observing the longstanding benefits of Pilates' classical, systematic, and integrative approach and Vbarre's shared philosophy, Stormi believes she has chosen the best of two fitness worlds. Her joy is derived from sharing her love of movement, continuing life as a student, and enabling clients and teachers to not achieve, but surpass their fitness goals.

Susan Smith Burns was first introduced to The Pilates Method in 1999 while completing her Master of Science degree in Health Fitness Management at The American University in Washington, DC. What started as a new and different way to work out quickly turned into a favorite activity, as Susan found herself spending more and more time in the Pilates room of the studio where she worked as a personal trainer and Spinning instructor. Although her initial aspirations upon graduation were to tackle the public policy side of healthcare, the more she used the Method for her personal health and wellness goals, the more she longed to share her passion with others. Completion of a Beginner Mat training program led to a full apparatus training program and the founding of balance, Your Pilates, Yoga & Gyrotonic Studio in January 2001.
As word spread and more people learned of the profound benefits of Pilates, Yoga and Gyrotonic exercise, Balance Studio quickly outgrew its small space in Rockville, MD and expanded to a second location in Bethesda, MD, just outside of Washington, DC. In January 2005, the Bethesda studio moved to its current location and doubled in size again three years later. The Rockville studio was moved to a larger location in November 2007.
A friend introduced Susan to Power Pilates in 2004 and it was love at first sight. She became a Power Pilates instructor in 2005 and was invited to be a Power Pilates Teacher Trainer in 2010. Balance Studio has been a host studio for Power Pilates instructor training programs since 2004. Susan has also been a certified instructor in the GYROTONIC Expansion System since 2005.

After returning to Florida in the 90's, she continued to practice Pilates regularly. In 1998, following a desire to share her enthusiasm for Pilates with others, she headed back to the Big Apple to become a teacher. She was trained by Romana Kryzanowska at Drago's earning her first certificate as a Second Generation Pilates teacher.

Virginia Acosta, a native of the Dominican Republic, is the owner / director of Control Pilates Studio and the Regional Director of Power Pilates in the Dominican Republic.
For over 25 years Virginia has been evolving her exercise palate. As a child she began her love of movement with classical ballet, she had an artistic inclination towards dance, music and performing arts. Her passion grew as an adult focusing on yoga and contemporary dance; she studied various techniques including Horton, Limon and Graham. Virginia also studied Business Administration, specializing in advertising Media Placement. She worked for major advertising agencies in the Dominican Republic as well as on television as a TV news reporter. While working for the news station she put dance on hold for three years. "It was amazing to be a reporter but it was not my passion, so I returned to dance."
After several years the dance company she belonged to closed. She searched for a way to continue to train her body and after trying all traditional ways in a gym and failing she met a Cuban dancer and Pilates' teacher visiting the Dominican Republic. Virginia took a course with her and from the very first day she was hooked. She researched a variety of Pilates programs online but "like an arrow to my heart I fell in love with Power Pilates". In 2004 she earned her certificate as a Power Pilates Instructor, introducing the method in her country; she pioneered the first Pilates studio, and continues to be the leader in teaching Classical Pilates in the Dominican Republic. She received her PMA Certification in April 2011.
Virginia lives in the Dominican Republic with her husband and four sons. She feels fulfilled in life and work as she has devoted herself to her passion sharing the teachings of Pilates with others.
